I'm grateful for our little home. I can look out of the kitchen window to see my flowers or the kids. The backyard is big enough to give them plenty of room to play or go on an adventure in the ditch behind us.
Living in a small home means regular sorting and purging, only important meaningful things stay. It also means I am more creative with storage, such as using one of my grandmother's old tobacco cans for cat treats.
There is less cleaning, I can clean the house fairly quickly and that leaves me with more time for important things, like spending time with the kids or Mr Copper Coin.
A smaller house means you are not heating and cooling empty space. We can keep our house cold for very little money. Smaller house = smaller payments.
I can put music on in the living room and hear it throughout the whole house.
There is enough space to be by yourself if you want to, but not enough space to lose each other for too long. Unless of course, I really want to be lost and you find me in the closet eating chocolate because I don't want to share.
Our small house is considered a mansion to many. America is the only country where more is more.
It's not to say that we will never move, but when and if we ever do I hope we get a manageable house. As it is, I almost completely take care of this house. I call or hire people to do repairs. It's not overwhelming if anything were to happen to one of us.
