6th grade

He has entered the age of awkwardness, zits, voice cracking, and, hopefully, physical and mental growth. He's typical for his age, alternating between being so grown up and responsible to being a big baby in the blink of an eye. He likes girls but pesters his sister the most.
Looking back to when I was his age, I recall wearing globe earrings and having a difficult time remembering how NOT to spell sandwich "sandwhitch." Times were simpler then. Oldest can see or hear anything with the click of a button.
Times are harder now even for parents. There is all the political correctness, Pinterest perfection syndrome, and fake book, to name a few.
So we say a prayer every day, and my silent one is always that we raising them right and making good decisions.

Decapitated

Before we went to Sunday school, we noticed there was a decapitated doll on the floor. Then, we noticed it looked like our own face if we put up to our heads. We're weird like that.

At Sunday school, Caboose tried to escape, crying, "let me out of here!"

Craft Party

Princess was invited to a birthday party at Michael's today. She had so much fun.

Hmmm...

Princess must really love her dance class, she has asked every day if it is dance day. She tells me it's her favorite day.

On a different note, Caboose had a bad day. He had an accident in his pants at school. He claims he's not sick, that the teacher wouldn't let him go to the bathroom. Later, he wanted in the treasure box, so he didn't ask to go. He was very embarrassed, poor guy.
All three came home with lice yesterday.  Two whole weeks into school, and already we have lice. I'm going to hunt down the parents that send their kids to school with lice and knock the $?!# out of them.

First day of Dance

Yesterday Princess started dancing at a new place. She has more friends at MMDA, and it is closer to home. She was a little worried about being able to dance well there, but she loved it! She raved about the music, how she learned new moves, and how fun it is to dance with her friends.

Creative Play

I love how these two use their imagination when they are playing. Those magnetic squares are used so often for castles, jails, decorative storage, etc.. I also love how they weren't fighting...

Caboose

He looks sweet and innocent, but he refused to do his work at school today.

Power outage

Over the weekend our power went out for a few hours. Oldest was scared, Caboose whined, "why did this have to happen to us?", and Princess was enjoying all the candles. All three hunkered down in the living room in front of the computer until it's battery died...

Muffins for Mom

Caboose is learning about the letter M this week. The kindergarten class had "muffins for mom" this morning. I'm so proud of how well Caboose is adjusting to "big school."

Oldest got to bring his trombone home. It's still in plastic, he's not allowed to open it yet.

He's fallen asleep outside waiting on carpool 2 days in a row now....

First Day of school

Oldest didn't want passing cars to see him get his picture taken. Princess was happy to see her friends soon, and Caboose felt invincible with his cape on. He even walked into school by himself. Princess was to walk him, but she left him on accident. The principal and librarian took Caboose under their wings. I checked on him, and he looked shell shocked, but okay.

Caboose met his teachers yesterday-

Ode to the Night Owl

Summer is coming to an end this week. While I won't miss the kids fighting and general craziness, I will miss my staying up late. I've tried to deny it, I just can't anymore. I've attempted being a morning person, and have had some times where caring for a baby or work demands made me more of a reluctant early bird. However, my soul craves the night. It's when I have no limits, only freedom. I've come up with my most brilliant ideas at night. Staying up late almost feels like an unconscience rebellion to go against the idea of early to bed, early to rise mumbo jumbo. After all, nothing good happens after midnight? Not in my world. Night is for passion, I've stayed up until 5:30 am reading a romance novel. The night is my free time and when I feel the most creative. Only after dark can we absorb and reflect on life. All the dreams and things you didn't have time to think about during the day can be mulled over at night. In fact, according to Psychology Today, intelligent people are more likely to be nocturnal than people with lower IQ scores. Many studies claim night owls are more open minded and proactive. Go me! (And Oldest, he takes after me, poor thing).

My love of the night will be cut short soon. I'll have to force myself to put down that book or that glue stick and go to bed because I'll have to get up at the ass crack of dawn.
